Fame in the woods

Fame in the woods

Fame loves trail riding. He acts like he has been a trail pony for years! It is hard to believe he is turning three April 8, 2003.

Fame for a DayFame is our newest baby. Fame was born on April 8, 2000 in Kentucky and he is already 16.2+ hands! He is unraced but was started in training last year and then put out to pasture in Lexington, KY for the winter. His former owner/breeder has decided to get out of racing and asked his trainer to sell him. We were lucky enough to get the call from the trainer and we went up to Lexington to pick him up. Fame's trainer has a wonderful reputation for caring for and training horses. He trained the 1970 Kentucky Derby winner Dust Commander.Fame is the quietest horse I have ever owned. He seems to have life figured out and nothing worries him. He loads, clips and ground ties. Fame is just starting his training and he is already months ahead of many of the horses we have gotten off the track. Fame has been ridden by beginners out on our trails and has quietly walked past moving bulldozers without showing any signs of nervousness. He is like a tank going through creeks and climbing steep banks and hills. He steps quietly over logs and brush and even gave a lead to other horses who would not walk down into the water. We need to make up a blanket for Fame that says, "Whatever". Oh, his nickname is Famous Snuggler because he loves to snuggle up and give kisses to anyone walking by.With the right guidance and training, Snuggler will be the love of a lifetime for anyone with the time to let him grow and learn slowly. Even though he can be ridden by a beginner, Famous Snuggler will benefit most from a knowledgeable trainer/rider to teach him all he needs to learn for his new life away from the track.Current Training

  • Currently going quietly under saddle in the arena and on the trails - walk trot and canter. He has shown a natural ability to do flying changes.Totally quiet on the trails. He will cross streams and climb steep banks. He is not spooked by bulldozers or large grading equipment.Fame will stop from a canter with just a verbal whoa.Fame has the laid back personality of a quarter horse.
  • He is ridden in a snaffle bit.
