Christmas at Bits & Bytes Farm

Why haven't you updated the Web site? That is the question we always get. The answer: We've been busy!!!

At least one friend has a new horse for Christmas. Bullet Again was purchased by Rosemarie Spillane as a Christmas present for herself. You might remember, we went looking for a special horse for her. Rosemarie liked our choice and now she is ready to begin the New Year with a new eventing partner.

The elves at Bits & Bytes Farm surprised all the horses with their yearly stockings stuffed full with candy canes, raisons, apples, carrots and peppermints - of course!!!!!

Elisa Wallace
Bits & Bytes Farm trainer, Elisa Wallace, gave a gift of her artwork as a Christmas present to the farm.

Bits & Bytes Farm trainer, Elisa Wallace, will someday be a famous artist and we wanted a photo of her with her gift to us of a metallic representation of a Thoroughbred race horse head. What a thoughtful gift and one we will always treasure.

Christmas at Bits & Bytes Farm

Leighton and the puppies.

Leighton lobbied hard with her boyfriend to get a puppy for Christmas as well - but he was not to be swayed. Maybe next litter Leighton.

Rosemarie also got two puppies for Christmas along with her new horse Bullet Again. Elisa's mom bred the puppies and they are related to Elisa's previous Jack Russell terrier. Rosemarie bought one for herself and one for her brother -- but will he be able to get it away from Rosemarie? Elisa just had to keep one for herself too.

Rosemarie and a armful of Christmas puppies.

That now makes four Jack Russell terriers that visit our farm. Rachael Roberts has Ocho from a previous litter.

Marie saved a doberman from the shelter over Christmas. She and Gertjan now have three dobermans that come and play with our two! We don't just give homes to Thoroughbreds but dogs too!

We enjoyed the company of a visitor from North Carolina who came to ride Straw Boy during the holidays. He had missed out on Secret and wanted to try his twin.

Shakerag Hounds Novice/Jr. Hunt

Barry and Marie took Brewster and Era of Chanago to the 2004 Shakerag Hounds Novice/Jr. Hunt on December 28th. The day was crisp and about 65 riders turned out smartly - some for their first hunt. Both Brewster and Chanago have a year of hunting behind them so it was an enjoyable ride for Barry and Marie. Marie has only ridden on a few hunts so having an experienced horse to ride made it a lot more relaxing. She hopes to have her horse Two Thumbs Up ready to hunt next year. The horses get plenty of hound training with all the dogs we have running around the farm!

Call or come by for a visit

Please call us to discuss which horse might be the best match for you based on riding skill, experience and equine personality. We do not send out videos because it is important to match the personality of the horse with the personality of the rider. We are matchmakers, not horse brokers. We have horses in a wide price range. Call us to discuss prices or to schedule an appointment. We'd love to have you come meet all of our horses--we know that it will be worth your time. Just bring peppermints!
