“Hobo” is a 2004, 16.2 and 1/2 inch tall chestnut gelding. He was bred and owned by same owner till his was retired this past fall. He is being retired sound with no vices. He did have a racing injury when he was three. He had a very small (10%) tear in his suspensory and was laid up accordingly and has continued to race sound with no further problems. He has raced 45 times. This should not affect as career options. It would not necessary even be detected in a vet check but we are committed to full disclosure on the horses we sell. No horse is perfect and “Hobo” has proved that the tear healed successfully or he would not have still been racing at seven.
In between races his exercise rider/owner has taken him trail riding so he could learn to relax. He loves it. He spooks from nothing including turkeys flying up in front of him on the trails and deer jumping out of the brush. He is a nice big solid horse with great feet.
“Hobo” is a beautiful mover with tons of athletic ability. He will make switch to show horse very easily. He is already turned out with two other geldings and has no problems with other horses in the pasture. Cleaned up, this horse is gorgeous. He is only being offered for sale because of some personal problems in his owner’s private life. He would still be racing and competing if not for that. He must go to a good home and the buyer must keep in touch with the owner and trainer as well as with Bits & Bytes Farm.
I love Thoroughbreds that have had just one owner. They are more trusting and calm and their personalities really come out. They are easy to train as they trust their person to take care of them.
