Here is a photo of Trail and his favorite pony Julie. She is very patient with him. Not much grass here, but she is still fat. The filly was just wonderful yesterday. She wants to be a “horseshow pony”. When the time comes, she can find her own child and show. She got her pink ribbon and her white ribbon and enjoyed herself absolutely.

Trail is calmer today. He definitely likes Nina (my daughter) better than me. It was love at first sight for him. For Nina, he pricks his ears, softens his eyes and wants to play with her. For me, he hardens his face and “endures” what I ask. Too bad she is going to Canada for the summer next week. He will have to make do with me.

I guess I was just worried that Trail would not settle. He is not communicating at all. Today, though, Nina came out to the barn and loved on him and he really responded to her. She kissed and loved on him and he visibly softened. There is hope for him. He does have a buddy, an Arab mare that he adores. They are stalled across from each other and turned out together at night. The farrier came today and he was very good for him. It is me he is distant from because I stood up to him when he tried to plow over me. I guess he thinks I am mean.
