The Men of Ashford

Alex Kemper (Tucks St. Aly)describes our trip to Ashford.

After lunch, we made our way over to the most stunning farm in the area, Ashford Stud. Not only did we see the incredible stone barns that Ashford is known for (with ceilings made of beautiful hard wood and massive doors that would look about right on a castle), we saw what really makes the farm what it is, its phenomenal and world class stallions.

We were able to pet and get photographs with Derby winner Fusaichi Pegasus, and saw Johannesberg, Tale of the Cat, Henrythenavigator, Lion Heart, Van Nistelrooy, Scat Daddy, Grand Slam, and (one of our favorites because he was such a teddy bear and almost fell asleep by us) yet another Derby winner, Thunder Gulch. Above all, the Bits & Bytes Farm group was elated and amazed that they were able to pet and even kiss the legendary top stallion and winner of millions, Giant’s Causeway. If we had not wanted to see the last day of races at Keeneland racetrack, I think most of our group would have been happy to stay browsing and taking it all in at this beautiful farm.
