Two New OTTBs!

Crafty Valentine - Thoroughbred - SOLD! - Bits & Bytes Farm

Safe Passage aka ‘Paddy’ and Crafty Valentine aka ‘Valley’ arrived from the racetrack at 3:30 on Saturday afternoon August 10.

‘Paddy’ was purchased by Anne Michele Jamros and he will be boarding at Bits & Bytes Farm. ‘Valley’s’ new mom is Trica Pike of Stratham, GA. Trica picked up Crafty Valentine on Sunday morning

OTTB Made In Her Image in Training at Bits & Bytes Farm

Made in Her Image came to Bits & Bytes Farm from the race track in mid-December 2018 for a few months of training. Her owner will be bringing ‘Mae’ home to Nantucket, MA in the spring. We have the pleasure of starting this three-year-old filly and documenting it.

Week Two – Training an Off-the-Track Thoroughbred

OTTB Young Joe learning to trot over poles on the ground

Young Joe has been away from racing just two weeks. His new mom, Mary Catherine, has been riding him and teaching him the basics of being a sport horse as opposed to being a race horse. Since leaving the race track Joe has learned to cross tie, stand while being mounted, stand quietly while being ridden, walk, trot and canter without getting quick.
