Flooded Farms in Georgia

This photo is of Bits & Bytes Farm flooded front pastures with Barry's erosion logs to holding back the Georgia clay. The advantage of all this rain is green pastures.

We thought of building an Ark for all our animals. The Canton, Georgia area has had two to four inches of rain today and this is after five days of heavy rains!

The highways are flooded in downtown Atlanta and Interstate 575 is closed at Highway 92 just south of us in Woodstock.

Our horses are safe, and being all geldings, we decided not to build the Ark. But, it was brought to our attention that several barns have flooded out in Cobb County. We hope that anyone reading this will pass on that we can house several horses if you are aware of some that need a dry barn. Our first thoughts go to helping the animals but we can also put up a few people at the farm if they are without a home.

The bright side of all this rain is that we have lots of green pastures. They were all recently over-seeded with rye grass so our horses will have green grass all winter. As one observer noted, “Bits & Bytes Farm looks like a little bit of Ireland”.
