If you see a horse you like, you better act fast! That's what Rosemarie Spillane did when she saw Joe Kelly's Tune on our Prospect page. After Elizabeth, she was one of the first to ride Joe Kelly's Tune. It was a match made in heaven. Rosemarie is a former "A" Pony Clubber so she knows a good horse when she sees one. She plans to continue Joe Kelly's training at our farm with the three "E" trainers: Elizabeth, Erika and Elisa.

And another horse sold . . .

We have another horse match made at the farm. Congratulations to Kendall Dennis on the purchase of Paran! Paran is a Percheron/Thoroughbred cross who was a PMU baby like Firefly. Paran belonged to our very skilled and licensed farrier Chase New and was trained by Elisa Wallace. Kendall tried Ace's Angel first. She was not quite a match. Then she tried Secret and really liked him. But, when she got on Paran we knew she had found her special horse! What a lovely pair. They will grow up and learn together with the training from Elisa Wallace at Bits & Bytes Farm. Paran is our newest boarder and we want to welcome Kendall's mom Ellen and sister Morgan to our farm family.

And a training update on two Bits & Bytes Farm horses
and their new moms . . .

We are always being asked how hard it is to train a horse right off-the-track. The answer is, "It depends". If the horse is chosen wisely for temperament and soundness it can be a very easy transition.Marie van Roekel took a chance on getting Two Thumbs Up directly from the track based on Elizabeth's recommendation after she saw the horse. Elizabeth had bought Joe Kelly's Tune from the same trainer and she knew that he takes good care of his horses. As you can see from the photo below, he has lived up to his name -- Marie gives two thumbs up for Two Thumbs Up after her first ride -- less than one week after his last race.

Marie's second ride on Two Thumbs Up was on our trails he remained calm and willing the whole time. This weekend she even started him over poles on the ground and cross rails. He seems to enjoy the work.

RU Ready to Rumble and Lauren McKee have begun their eventing career together. Here is what Lauren has to say:

Hey! Just wanted to give you an update on Rumble. He is doing great. We're living in Lexington, KY now. Rumble did his first event in May at the beginner novice level and won!! We have since done 3 novice level events and have another one at the KY horsepark this weekend. He has turned out to be very bold and brave at new fences and loves to jump! He seems to love the water jumps and has not looked at one yet. I am having a great time with him. I have attached three pictures of us jumping. I hope things are going well there!
