Worth waiting for

This is one big dark bay that Elizabeth has her eyes on. He is still racing but we feel he is worth waiting for.

We have lots of help finding horses at the track from our trainer friends.

We're Back from Our Prospecting Trip

Big 17.2 hand chestnut will be available soon.

We just completed a buying trip and brought back a gorgeous 17.1+ hand bay gelding name Knight Villain (aka "Good Knight - the Gentle Giant"). This horse has real class and style. He is a stakes winner of almost $293,000! He has clean legs at nine, which tells you how well put together he is. I love finding older horses still racing. If they retire sound from racing at nine, you know they have no conformation problems that would lead to unsoundness.

Knight Villain

"Good Knight" is the grandson of Mr. Prospector who is by Raise a Native, by Native Dancer. Other famous horses in his pedigree include: Nashua, Nasrullah, Triple Crown winner Count Fleet (both sides of pedigree), Bold Ruler, Miss Disco, Polynesian, Northern Dancer, Nearctic and Natalma. Click here to see his pedigree. He is listed on our "horses for sale" page.

New Outlet Page Coming Soon to the Bits & Bytes Farm Web site.

We saw over 40 horses on this trip! Some are not ready to leave racing yet but we have them in our radar. Some of the horses are not quite as perfect as we like but are suitable for pleasure or dressage work.

Our first Bits & Bytes Farm "Outlet Horse" - Tony the Bear. He is great with kids. 1996 model.

We are starting a new area of the site for these kinds of horses. We will call it the Bits & Bytes Farm Outlet Horses. They are perfectly good horses that just don't fit our program because of sex, old osselets, size or temperament. They will be with the trainer still but are available for sale directly from the trainer. We will list the trainer's name and number and you can contact them directly. The trainer will help you arrange for a vet check.

Shipping can be arranged with our preferred shipper Billie Powell (770-329-9677) for about 60 cents a mile or pick the horse up yourself if you are close enough.

We do not guarantee anything about these horses. You must contact the trainer directly. Know that all trainers are not 100% truthful so be sure to do your homework and get a vet check so you know what you are buying.

Would you Kill this Horse?

Can you believe this horse was on his way to the killers? He is very well bred with Triple Crown winner - Seattle Slew, Buckpasser, Northern Dancer, Secretariat, Nearctic, Natalma, Bold Ruler and Tom Fool in his pedigree. The only thing wrong with him is that he has some big ankles. A trainer with a big heart bought this boy for a few hundred dollars to keep him from being taken to the killers by another trainer on Saturday. If we had more room we would have brought him home. Not to worry though -- he is one of the lucky ones. Justloadthewagons has found a home on a farm in Ohio. He is an example of the kind of horses that are going to slaughter just because the trainer needs another stall. Our Outlet Page will feature horses like this one.

If you see a horse you like, you better act fast! Word is getting out about the horses we find.

Working out in the early morning.

Call or come by for a visit

Please call us to discuss which horse might be the best match for you based on riding skill, experience and equine personality. We do not send out videos because it is important to match the personality of the horse with the personality of the rider. We are matchmakers, not horse brokers. We have horses in a wide price range. Call us to discuss prices or to schedule an appointment. We'd love to have you come meet all of our horses--we know that it will be worth your time. Just bring peppermints!
