SOLD! SOLD! SOLD!

Honor and Valor with his new family. - July 18, 2005.

It has been another busy week for us with TWO Prospect Horses finding new homes!

Also, our early June purchase -- Honor and Valor -- has been snatched up by his "Friend of Bits & Bytes Farm" Dana McLean and her son Jordie. Jordie was heartbroken when Chouette Player was sold to California but now he has another horse to love on.

Equine vet Dr.Jennifer Dunlap (she purchased -Wiseguy's Out and gray Prospect Mare Chick's Hope) has gone for just one more Prospect Mare - URCA!

Urca is a Thoroughbred mare for sale that was sold to Dr. Jennifer Dunlap.
Urca was a Thoroughbred mare for sale on our Prospect Horses page. She was sold to Dr. Jennifer Dunlap.

Urca is the mom of Austin's Wolf who was purchased as a Prospect Horse by Kriston Glusko a few weeks ago. Kriston joined us on this trip to meet "Wolfie's" mom and to watch our trainers competiting in Lexington, KY at the Champagne Run 3-day event.

Dr. Jennifer Dunlap is starting an Irish Draft Sport Horse breeding program. She is buying all the big boned beautiful mares we've had on our Prospect Horses page so you better call ASAP if you see a big mare you like on our Web site!

We placed another Prospect Horse who never even made it to the Prospect Horses page. We had been communicating by e-mail and phone with Ashley Rogers of Powder Springs and Athens, GA. She needed a big horse (she is 5'9" tall) but she had a short horse budget.

Painted Dancer and new mom Ashley Rogers.
Painted Dancer was a Prospect Horse who never even made it to our Prospect Horses page before he was sold. Here he is at our farm with his new mom Ashley Rogers. Painted Dancer is close to 17 hands tall! What a lovely match they make.

Ashley told us what she needed and last Wednesday one of our contacts sent us photos of a big, beautiful 16.3+ hand bay gelding by the name of Painted Dancer. We quickly forwarded the photos on to Ashley and she said she wanted him.

With that sale confirmed, Urca's sale pending and a lead on a 16.1 hand bay three year-old, we planned a short notice trip to the several farms in Kentucky and to the track to prospect and pick up more horses.

The three year old bay gelding was at a farm near Louisville. We had our vet check him out. Our decision to pick him up too was based on her glowing remarks. We have not been disappointed.

We also found a beautiful five year-old chestnut gelding by the name of Light Artillery (aka "Artie") at the race track. After vetting him out, he was put on the trailer to come home to begin training for a new career as a sport horse. Watch for new photo pages of these horses soon!

Congratulations Elisa Wallace and Imtiaz Anees

During our buying trip to Kentucky, we were lucky enough to catch two of our favorite trainers competiting against each other last weekend. They were both at the Champagne Run 3-Day event held at the Kentucky Horse Park in Lexington, KY.

Equestrian Olympian rider, Imtiaz Anees and Elisa Wallace competed in the Intermediate and Training Divisions. The competition was tough, but both riders finished in the top six in the Intermediate division with Imti finishing fifth on Freetown and Elisa finishing sixth on Jackson. We are very proud of our Bits & Bytes Farm trainers.

Happy Anniversary Marie and Lise!

One year ago, on July 18, 2004, boarder and "Friend" Marie van Roekel bought a Prospect Horse directly from the trainer at the track. Elizabeth picked out Two Thumbs Up and suggested Marie go take a look and pick him up. It has been a match made in heaven.

First year anniversary for Fort Mason and Two Thumbs Up.
Fort Mason and Two Thumbs Up celebrate their first year anniversary with their new moms. Both horses were long time racers; Fort Mason ran 98 times,Two Thumbs Up was a former stakes racer who raced until he was nine.

Last weekend Marie van Roekel and Two Thumbs Up competed in a show and won first and second place ribbons for their jumping abilities. We are extremely proud of the skills acquired in the last year for both horse and rider.

Also, one year ago, on July 18, 2004, Lise Matte bought Fort Mason who was Elizabeth's first true rescue horse back in 2000. Fort Mason came to her through New Vocations. They do a terrific job finding and matching ex-race horses to new homes. New Vocations places both Thoroughbreds like Fort Mason and Standardbreds (trotters and pacers). Fort Mason still lives with us at Bits & Bytes Farm.

Next year, Dana and Jordie will be able to celebrate the same anniversary date as Marie and Lise. I wasn't sure why Dana was so instant that she buy Honor and Valor on July 18th. I thought it was because she thought we might sell him out from under her. But, now I know it was so she too can celebrate her anniversary with Marie and Lise on July 18th every year! The party girls will be their new nickname.

Call or come by for a visit

Please call us to discuss which horse might be the best match for you based on riding skill, experience and equine personality. We do not send out videos because it is important to match the personality of the horse with the personality of the rider. We are matchmakers, not horse brokers. We have horses in a wide price range. Call us to discuss prices or to schedule an appointment. We'd love to have you come meet all of our horses--we know that it will be worth your time. Just bring peppermints!
