His party was very intimate and hosted by his surrogate mother, Linda Brown, who exercises him on the days I cannot get out to the barn. The one special perk about Linda.....she's a professional chef! She made Fame and all of us the most amazing carrot cake with cream cheese icing in celebration of Fame's "Big Number Seven". |

We had such fun despite the extremely cold temperatures. We all managed to eat cake in the barn as we shook with numbness.....party hats included!

I cannot believe that four years has passed since I purchased him
from Bits & Bytes Farm. I still remember the day I met him like
it was yesterday! He was a gangly, ALMOST three
year old, and he tore the button off my brand new jacket! I
still have that jacket and refuse to ever dispose of it. I could
write a novel about our times together over the past five years
and all the confidence and love he has given me. He
is without a doubt the best purchase I have ever made in my life....my
best buddy! Thank You!

I will send more pictures of us riding soon. We are attending a clinic next weekend with a clinician from Tryon and I am really looking forward to it. Anyway, I just wanted to let you know we are all doing great and wanted to share some pictures. Love, |
Elizabeth,
Just an update on Fame's Chiropractic visit.
It went very well and the chiropractor felt that he was is very good shape to have never been adjusted. After checking him out thoroughly, he only had to make minor adjustments to neck and shoulder area. You were right about the stretching as the chiropractor told me to only do it for about 5 - 10 minutes at a time to prevent soreness. He also gave me a lesson on how to properly stretch Fame in order to prevent any unnecessary strain. The stretches that I have been doing over the past several weeks have made a huge difference.
Anyway, I just wanted to say thanks for your input over the telephone a few nights ago. I plan on having Fame on a schedule with the chiropractor based on his training levels from here on out.
Regards!
Gloria

Barry & Elizabeth,
I just wanted to wish you both a very "Merry Christmas". I hope that you both are doing well during this hectic time of year and that all the "boys" are good too.
Fame and I went to a hunter pace this weekend and we came in sixth place. Being that I attended just to get Fame out and about to see some beautiful winter scenery, I was shocked when we ended up coming in sixth place! He was such a good boy too....but he always is.
Take care and know that Marc and I are thinking of you both. Hopefully when we get our house finished this spring, you all can come spend a weekend with us. I would love nothing more!
God Bless & Merry Christmas!

Christy, Marc, and I have talked about the clinic for days on end and now we can't seem to stay off the site! I think we should make this an annual event. I loved meeting Niki, Linnea, Hailey, Morgan, Paula and everyone else. You are so right...there was a buzz in the air that day that no one could explain! Christy and I declared on the way home that it was the best weekend that we have had in years! We are still buzzing and are not sure when we will come down.
But in all honesty, the energy was positive because EVERYONE that attended this clinic truly loves their horses. The day was not about ribbons, it was not a competition, but rather a gathering of people who have one thing in common...Thank you for being the match maker that you are! The compliments flowed between all who attended because we all knew where our horses had came from....some from the fields almost starved to death, and some from the track. During the clinic all we noticed was each other and the progress that each individual had made with their horses. Now that's some positive energy!

Elizabeth,
I have decided to "pass the torch" to Niki Rawls and So Romeo for being the epitome of the "Perfect Match". I read their Success Story tonight and had to wipe the tears from my eyes. You are right, she does feel the same about Romeo as I do about Fame. There was a lot of passion and DEEP appreciation for Romeo with every line she wrote. He will never be a piece of sporting equipment, but a piece of her soul....of who she is, just as Fame is to me. To me, that is the definition of "The Perfect Match". Just like Niki said that she knew Romeo was the one when she met him, I knew Fame was "the one" when I met him! I didn't even know how to ride when I met Fame, but something deep within me said that he was the one. You were so right about him too! How did you know....???? I suppose I will never understand, but THANK YOU!! Since the day I met him, I have always trusted my heart to guide my decisions.
I'm keeping my eye on Niki and Romeo and look forward to more of their successes!
Thank you for this site......It so inspires me to become not only a better rider, but a more humble human being. Elizabeth,
I wanted to let you know that I am letting the world know how much I love my HUGE, HANDSOME thoroughbred. This is such a great conversation piece. So many people ask me, "Fame For A Day?" "What does that mean?" I am always happy to go into great detail about Fame For A Day as he is my favorite subject! Enjoy the picture!
Love,
Gloria & Fame
P.S. Fame for a Day got second place in his very first show two weekends ago! He's my hero! I will send more pictures soon!
Elizabeth,
I never thought that I would be sending this e-mail to you, but Fame
loves to jump. The higher, the better. Kasee rode him in a training
ride this past Thursday. Being that she is so considerate of our wishes
during our lessons, I requested that we challenge him a bit more over
some jumps. The cross rail jumps just seem to bore him more and more
here lately. Well, we literally "Raised the bar" and he
got soooo excited!

I am taking him to a schooling show on August 19th. Be prepared for
some more photos of my AWESOME boy! Enjoy the pics. of my trainer
(now Mrs. Kasee Trefgzer-Sluder...she and Andy married in May) riding
Mr. Fame!.
Love,
Gloria

Gloria purchased Fame for a Day in April 2003.
Hey Elizabeth,
It was so good to hear from you! Fame is doing awesome!
Since the February 27th e-mail (post hunter pace), Fame and I have been jumping courses! It is so exciting! We started out in a lesson about two weeks ago just jumping a few lines, then Kasee challenged me to do a course that she had set up. Fame looked like a pro. We completed the course at what I thought was perfection!
When we finished the course, Kasee had cold chills all over body. We are unstoppable now. He is going to be such a nice hunter (those are the words from Kasee as well).

I hope that you and Barry are doing well. Hopefully we will come down soon. I am in the market for the perfect trailer for my boy. If you have any suggestions, please inform me. I think a 7"6 is going to be our best bet being that Fame is such a big boy (over 17 hands now). I would certainly appreciate your input.
Love,
Gloria & Fame
Dear Elizabeth & Barry,
I hope that this note finds the both of you doing well! I wanted to send you
some pictures of Fame and I at our very first hunter pace.

This weekend Kasee, my trainer, was nice enough to invite us to join her at a hunter pace at Clemson University. This pace was hosted by C.U.'s equestrian team. I was very excited, and not to mention, a bit nervous, to see how my boy was going to perform during this event. Needless to say, he was AWESOME and very BRAVE!

The course was
much to be desired due to some rain showers the night before and there were some
daunting obstacles to get through. During the first three minutes of the pace,
we encountered a very narrow bridge and then a crossing that was a drop off into
a small river with an immediate climb up narrow steps that were made of railroad
cross ties. Whew, Fame did not flinch! He was steady and quiet. We went on for
a while and we got to experience our first "wide open" gallops in several
massive fields. My baby boy can flat out run! Fame loved it! He gave out a
few "Wheeee, this is so much fun Mommy" bucks. It was a sheer blast. I know
that we have not had this much fun in our time together. I am high on life right
now! Thank you so much for such an amazing animal (I know I tell you both that
all the time, but I mean it from the pit of my soul). Enjoy the pictures!
Lots of Love!

Hi Elizabeth!
I just wanted to send you some photos of Fame and me being that I
have not in a while. We are doing great out at Encore and love it!
Fame is in a HUGE paddock with two other horses that he became fast
friends with. The owners of Encore Stables are wonderful and are working
very hard at making their facility one of the best in our area. Our
new dressage arena (indoor) is awesome and they are starting on the
outdoor arena as we speak. Fame is loving his new home and al the
TLC he is receiving (so is his mom). We have a really nice field that
has some jumps and Fame and I love cantering around and jumping them.
Our training is paying off.
As you can tell by the photos, I am officially completed with school!! I'm so excited! The first thing Marc and I did after graduation ceremonies was run straight to the barn to love on Fame! I could not have made it through school without my two sweet boys (Marc and Fame). They both kept me sane as I worked full-time and plugged away at my studies. I love the men in my life! |

Fame for a Day in Gloria's graduation cap. Thanks For All Your Love and Support, We are very proud of Gloria for her commitment to her studies both at college and at the stables. It just goes to prove that patience and hard work have their rewards. CONGRATULATIONS GLORIA!!!! We are very proud of all your accomplishments. |
Elizabeth,
I just wanted you to know that I just had the most amazing lesson
on Fame today!! The clinic has made a world of difference for everyone
involved.
Fame is making transitions so smoothly and without hardly any effort. He is "up" and really stretching his legs out during the trot and canter. His walk is very nice as well! I just had to share this with you because I am so excited! Thank you! Thank you! for my boy!
I just wanted to let you know that the "Dynamic
Duo" had a GREAT day today in the hopes that it will put a smile
on your face and know that there are people who are out there who
are very grateful for the work that you do!
Lot of Love,
Gloria & Fame
What a wonderful weekend Fame and I had at the clinic! The trainer was absolutely wonderful and we learned a lot. I had some issues with Fame not wanting to go forward for a few weeks now. Chuck, the trainer from Lake Erie College, solved them in about ten minutes. I rode him with a dressage whip, which helped me keep him going whenever he would slow down when I didn't want him to. He now has the most wonderful walk, trot, and canter now.

Fame for a Day an Gloria at a clinic at the Biltmore Estates.
He was also showing off a bit in the arena by performing flying lead changes. If he picked up the wrong lead, Fame would usually correct himself before I would even have the chance to do so! It was a wonderful weekend!!
We are hoping that he will come back to the Biltmore in the near future. The beauty of this clinic is that Chuck concentrated on each individual riders needs. I have been in clinics where the clinicians focus on a specific job (jumping, dressage, etc.) This was very nice and exactly what many of the students at BEEC needed and wanted.
I hope that you enjoy the photos of my boy!
He is becoming such a nice horse, in more ways that one! I am also
sooo glad that I purchased a baby instead of an older horse because
I get such a sense of accomplishment everyday with Fame as we BOTH
progress through our journey together. Marc Is beaming with pride
after this weekend and actually getting to see the progress that Fame
and I have made ( or maybe he is just happy that his money is being
well spend)! Hope that you all had a wonderful weekend...we sure did!
The results I got in this clinic was probably the best birthday present
I have ever received in my life!
Lot of Love,
Gloria, Marc, and Fame
Dear Elizabeth,
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year ( yes, it's a bit late)!! I hope
that you and Barry had a wonderful holiday season. We sure did, although
it was a quite hectic.

Fame for a Day and mom Gloria Coleman. January
2005.
I know that you think that Fame and I have fallen off the edge of the world, but we have NOT!! We are still going strong and working hard (about four days a week along with Kasee riding Fame once a week). He looks so good because he is finally getting out of his awkward colt stage and looking more like a handsome strong thoroughbred. Yes, he has filled out more and his legs are not getting in the way of his progress in the arena (hee hee). It is amazing how much Mr. Fame has matured over the past year both physically and mentally.

Fame a.k.a. "The Famous Snuggler"
snuggles with dad Marc Coleman as well! January 2005.
We will be participating in a clinic on January 15th and 16th and I am very much looking forward to it. This clinic has been organized by Kasee. Her trainer from Ohio (Lake Erie College) will coming to the Biltmore to give students private instruction. Fame and I have signed up for both days of the clinic!
Fame has come a long way in almost 24 months and I am so proud of him ( not to mention myself too). He has taught me so much and I am grateful that I have had such a young horse to have the patience to deal with ME! He has never once demonstrated anger toward me.
You were right, he is the horse for me!! I know that many people thought I was crazy for buying such a young horse as a novice rider, but we have proven them wrong time and time again! I will be getting out of school in six weeks and I plan on dedicating 100% of my time to Mr. Fame.

Over the past year we have been working hard
on ground manners and basic exercises in the arena and on the trail
and it has paid off. I think now that Fame is technically five years
old, it is time to get really serious. Look out world, here we come!!!
Thank you for you wonderful web site...it inspires me to keep striving
to reach my goals and love my horse like no other horse has ever been
loved.
Lot of Love,
Gloria, Marc, & Fame (a.k.a. "The Famous Snuggler")

A note from Gloria:
Hi Elizabeth,
We had a wonderful trip in to visit with our parents for the holidays, EXCEPT, we had to come home a day early so I could see the baby!
He was so good today in the outdoor arena (again, it was a real nice, calm day). I rode him for a while in the outdoor arena before Cathy drove down to give me my lesson and Fame was so steady, listened well to all that I asked of him, and was dead quiet. He was such a good boy for our lesson as well.
He has learned so much in the past couple of months. He is becoming much more balanced and is responding so well to his training. It still amazes me that, since I've had him, I've NEVER had to catch him in his paddock. Today, he saw me walking towards his paddock and he made a bee-line for me! He melts my heart (especially when I've not seen him in a few days). I know that I will never be without Mr. Fame! Cathy rode him a few times while I was out of town and said that he was really good. THAT'S MY BOY!!
I am sending you some photos that we took the day that we left to go out of town. Of course, I had to go see Fame before we left and also get photos for his Grandparents to see (Ha!) I hope that you will be able to notice a difference in his weight and muscle tone compared to the last photos that you viewed of him. These photos depict Fame's sweet nature and how he follows Marc and I around his paddock. When I'm outside with him, he never leaves my side.
Enjoy
these photos and have a Merry Christmas!!
Marc and Gloria
