We have new Prospect Horses For Sale -May
8, 2008
Welcome to Bits & Bytes Farm's Prospect Horses
for Sale |
Our
horses > prospect horses for sale
Bits & Bytes Farm is always keeping an eye out for good prospects
at the race track. We currently have several prospect horses listed.
When we have prospect horses, they will be still racing or at the
trainer's farm. They are not available at our farm for
viewing. They are usually still at the race track. We
may purchase a prospect horse in the future and train them for
resale. When we offer prospects, you must remember that they are
totally green and in racing condition and usually at bargain
prices.
Buying a prospect horse direct from the track through Bits & Bytes
Farm can save you a significant amount of frustration and money.
Be aware that we have not ridden these horses and have not been
involved in their training. We have seen them trotted out and raced.
We make no claims as to the suitability of these horses for any
discipline. It usually takes a few months away from the track for
the horse's true personality and talents to make themselves known.
We visit the race tracks and our favorite trainers to find quality
horses for resale. We save you the time and trouble of locating
a horse and learning how to buy horses off the race track.
For more information, read about "How
to Buy a Prospect Horse" from Bits & Bytes Farm.
When we list that the trainer needs a stall ASAP - that
horse may be gone the same day we list it or soon there after.
Please call IMMEDIATELY if you are interested in a horse that
is "AT RISK ".
This is the time of year where we have lots of horses
at the lowest prices of the year. NOW is the time to buy!
Buying a horse directly off the track is a gamble. You
are buying the horse sight unseen. If you do not feel
comfortable with this process, please review our Horses
For Sale at our farm. These are horses that you can ride
before buying.
A vet check will let you know if the Prospect Horse is sound but
you still do not know if he has the mind or talent for what you
want to do. If you have the ability, and are willing to put in
the time, one of these horses might be right for you. We put you
in touch with a vet so that you can have the horse vetted to your
specifications - complete with x-rays if you desire - and we will
do the paperwork to get the horse off-the-track. We will also help
to arrange the shipping the horse and to your farm, or ours. The
vetting and shipping costs are in addition to the price of the
horse.
Once the horse is away from the track his price goes up. We
will not sell horses directly from the trainer to inexperienced
riders or to children.
Still not comfortable with the process? Read a few of our Prospect
Horse Success Stories to learn more.

"G Win"
"G Win" is a bay gelding born in May
2004. He just turned four so he has two years of growing left to
do and he is already 15.3 hands. He has a great hip and
flexes sound. He is a very kind and gentle horse who is easy to
ride. He has no vices. There is not a mean bone in his body. He
has raced but shows no desire to be a race horse. "G Win" is
a
Stormcat grand
baby.Northern
Dancer, Triple Crown winner - Secretariat, Nijinsky and Raise
a Native are in his pedigree.

and better photos soon if this boy is not sold today! These photos
do not properly represent how nice he is.

"Bucky' - SOLD!
Congratulations to Jessica Fredericks of Statesville, NC
"Bucky" is a 2004, 16+ hand, chestnut
gelding. He is lightly raced and believed sound for any new career
including jumping. He is healthy and has recently been wormed and
had his teeth worked on. "Bucky" has a wonderful disposition
and a great brain. He is a beautiful mover with a great stride.
He has good bone and a beautiful shoulder and a nice top line.
He is very well put together. This horse would make a great resale
project. He should be easy to train and he has the chrome that
buyers are looking for. See more
photos of him on our new sister site:
OTTBS-Online.com SOLD!

Seti is going to be too small to make it as a race horse. She would make a great children's hunter or polo pony. She is just two years old and 15 hands. We expect that she will grow another two inches or so. She is clean legged and living the good life on her breeder's farm in Kentucky. This is a real nice filly in a small package. She is believed sound for any career. Remember Teddy O'Conner is just 14.2 and is competiting at the top levels of eventing with Karen O'Connor! Good things come in small packages. See 50 more photos of her on our new sister site:
OTTBS-Online.com

Lord Charles is a 15.3+ hand, 2001 dark bay gelding
by Unaccounted For out of Irridescent by Seeking the Gold. "Charlie" is
a 7 year-old dark bay, about 15.3, that has been off-the-track
for about a year. He is gaining weight and needs a job. "Charlie"
appears to be sound dispite his time at the race track. His breeder
sold him several years ago and bought him back when it seemed he
was done as a race horse and they kept racing him. Lord
Charles has stylish way about him and an intelligent personality.
He has nice confirmation. Elizabeth fell in love with this horse
when she met him. He looked her in the eye and asked her to find
him someone who would really love him and give him a job. Lord
Charles is believed sound for any career including jumping. See 73
more photos of him on our new sister site: OTTBS-Online.com

Conto de Natal is a 1998 grey, Thoroughbred gelding for sale.
He is an ex-racer who has been living on the farm for two years
since retiring from racing. He is a big solid horse who needs to
loose some weight. He has been living the good life on his owner's
farm in Kentucky. He is sound and ready for a new career. He may
look like a broodmare ready to foal, but that is not going to work
out as HIS second career. See 69 more photos of him on our new sister site:
OTTBS-Online.com

Mister
Tom - SOLD! His vet fell in
love with him and purchased this fine horse! He will continue
to live Lexington, KY.
Mister Tom is a 16.1+ hand, 2004 dark bay gelding
by Pleasant Tap out of Ebonita by Silver Deputy. "Tom" came
home from the race track at the end of January when, although he
has great talent, it became clear that he didn't want to be a racehorse.
He is sound and has a very friendly personality. Someone will love
him. Tom has lost some of his beauiful physical qualities since
he left training. His breeder states, "If I were still riding
horses he would be my horse." Elizabeth feels this horse has
wonderful movement for dressage and he could also be an eventor.
Mister Tom is believed sound for any career including jumping.
See 77
more photos of him on our new sister site: OTTBS-Online.com SOLD!

"East" - NEW MARE!
"East" is an eight year old mare. She is big bodied and 15.3
hands tall. Our contact for this mare does what we do in New York
and has too many horses at this time. She has asked us to help
her find homes for some of her horses. These horses have been off-the-track
and had some additional training. "East" has done cross-country
and stadium jumping and loves it! She would make a good Pony Club
horse or a horse for a serious competitor. She has not been to
any shows due to lack of time (track duties) and money. She is
great to ride and she is sound. Warmblood breeders should take
a good look at this mare. More photos soon.

"Sunny G " is four years is a 4 yr
old, 16'3 hh , bay gelding. He is sound and clean legged, no vices.
Very kind to ride on the track. When watching this horse jog on
the road he just floated - his feet never touching the ground -
neck rounded and bowed with tons of free flowing shoulder movement.
He is very kind to ride and easy to handle on the ground. He is
by Tactical Cat by Storm Cat. He does have a hunter's bump which
means he is out of alignment and will need to be adjusted. He is
a little sore thru the back at the moment. He was very slow at
the race track and needs some weight on him. He needs a home ASAP
and he is priced to go. Click here for
more photos. SOLD!

Doxology - SOLD!
Congratulations
to Pamela Klein of Tampa, Florida.
"Dox" is a 16.2 hand, four year-old
COLT. "Dox" is up-to-date on everything and he has no
vices. His exercise rider says this horse is all class on the
race track. He is fantastic to ride and just floats across the
ground. He is very easy to ride but can be pushy on the ground.
He is a colt so gelding should improve this as well as proper handling.
He is not a mean horse. He just needs to be gelded or really worked
with on the ground more to learn to respect his handlers. He is
a beautiful mover and should be pointed towards the dressage ring.
He is sound but does have some changes on his front ankles so we
do not want to send him to a jumping career. The vet feels he will
hold up fine as a dressage horse. X-rays will be provided. We have
more photos! Call ASAP. This horse will be gone quickly. SOLD!

"Be There" - SOLD! Congratulations
to Amy Billington!
"Be There" is a four year-old, 16 hand, bay gelding
with some growing left to do. He is very quite and laid back. His
exercise rider called him a big pet. He is a great mover with a
fantastic trot and canter. He is like a rocking horse to ride at
a canter. He has no vices and he is clean legged. He loved the
turf but was not very competitive on the dirt. His owner does not
want him to end up on the bottom being run into the ground. He
would make a great 3-day event horse as he always ran long. He
is also sound enough to be a hunter/jumper prospect. More photos
soon. His grand sires are the great European Thoroughbred Roberto and
son of Fappiano - Cryptoclearance.
Call for details on this well bred horse. We have more photos! SOLD! Congratulations
to Amy Billington!

"Handsome" - Already in hunter/jumper training!
Handsome describes this big (16.2 hand)
eight year-old (2000) chestnut gelding. He is a very kind horse
who has been off-the-track for a while. He is already jumping 3'6" He
is up-to-date on shots but he is due for his
teeth to be done. His
owner says he feet are some of the best feet she have ever
had in a TB. He has never has needed shoes even when ridden along
the road. He trailers
fine, travels great and he has no bad habits. Rating
him quiet from 1 to 10 (worst) he is a 3. His
owner has put beginners on him and he is super
with them. About
a 8 or 9 mover, 10 over fences, and super steady. He
is at least 16.2 if not taller. He has jumped a short
course at 3'-3'6". Very willing to learn and learns
well the first time. His owner contacted us to help her find
him a home. She hope
that we can find him a great home, because he is a great
horse and ready for a serious job. He is located
in Florida. Click here to
see more photos. Call for video.

Windra is
a 2004 (4 year- old), 15.1 hand chestnut filly. This filly's
height is very deceiving. Our contact has seen her on the track
with guy that is 5'10 galloping her and he fit her just fine.
She is the sweetest kindest filly. She loves to have her head
rubbed and to eat peppermints. She is not marish but is a little
timid and will need a confident patient rider. She needs a minute
to digest everything when she see's new things --then she will
go right on with the program. This mare has a huge trot and would
make a great 3-day event or dressage horse. She is sound with
clean legs and no blemishes. She was offered to us by her breeder
and a trainer that we have gotten many fine horses from. She
has had only one owner and trainer and that makes a huge difference.

To The Bank - SOLD! Congratulations to Tina Gragg of Columbus,
NC
To The Bank is a 2005 (three year-old) filly. She is 16.1 hands
tall already. She is a grand daughter of Danzig who
is a fantastic sire of eventing horses! She was foaled in 2005.
Her other grand sire is Slew
O Gold by
Seattle Slew. Her great grand sires are Northern
Dancer, Mr. Prospector,
Seattle Slew and Alydar. I would
say this girl is VERY well bred. Click here to see more photos. SOLD!
Congratulations to Tina Gragg of Columbus, NC.

"Amori" is a 16'1
hh and growing 4 year-old (2004) gelding. He has only run five
times. If you missed out on Vilas
County he is a carbon copy mover of him. He as a
great big floating trot and very free from the shoulder and the
hip. He has no vices and is very laid back on the track. His
trainer says he has a case of the 'slows' and needs a new career
away from the track. He is a very easy keeper who is always on
a diet. "Amori" will eat anything that is put in front
of him. Click here for
more photos and pedigree information. May be available soon again.

"Talent" may be her name but she shows
no talent on the track. Maybe she will be your next sport horse.
"Talent" is all washed up as a race horse at just three
years old. This filly currently sticks at 15.2 hands high. She
still has three years of growing left to do and a new career to
excel at. She still looks a little immature in her body and should
fill out to be a beautiful horse. She is clean legged except for
an old scar below left hock. It is a blemish not a concern for
soundness issues. She is super sweet and kind to handle. She has
a great forward trot and would make a great 3-day eventor. This
lady has no vices and she is up to date on everything. She is from
one of our better owners and she has had excellent care while at
the track in race training. Click here for
more information and photos.

"Bubba" - MAKE AN OFFER!
"Bubba" is the kindest gentlest horse in the world.
He is turning four, and still growing but already he is 15'2 hand
high. He is very well mannered and easy to
handle on the ground and under saddle. The trainer's eight year
old son cools him out in the morning after he trains. The kids
pet all over him, he stands there to let them braid his forelock
and mess with his face. He also loves the one barn cat and will
rub all over her without biting her, lets her lay in his stall.
learn more about "Bubba" and see more
photos of him. "Bubba" needs a home ASAP. No reasonable offer
refused.

"Johnny" is a 16.1 hand, dark bay, four
year-old (April 2004) gelding. This is a big solid horse. He has
a nice shoulder and chest.
He was just wrapped up when we took the photos. The better trainers
wrap their horses every day after their workouts. He ran 4th his
last time out so his trainer is hoping to find him a new career
before he is sold down to a lower class of racing. He has just
had his teeth done and he has been wormed. He is sound to begin
a new career. Click here for more photos!

"Dream" - Beautiful well priced filly.
"Dream" is a well bred, four year-old,
16 hand, filly by the French sire Silic. She has the same
sire a Little
Silic who is
a real sweetheart. She is sweet, quiet extremely
well mannered. The trainer brushed her off with no shank and the
door wide open. She stood for her photos without moving at
all. She is being sold because the trainer wants a better
life for her. Dream ran recently and finished 10th out of 12 horses.
She should be sound for any career. She is a very solid and sane
filly. Other well bred horses in her pedigree include: Blushing
Groom, Sadlers
Wells, Northern
Dancer and Nasrullah.
More photos soon.
"Dream"
is a four year old filly. Could she be your "Dream" horse?

Behren's Design aka "Design"
SOLD! Congratulations
to Heather LaHaye of Ramona, CA
"Design" is a classy beautiful 16'2 hh
plus COLT. He is just turning four (2004). He has clean legs
and no vices. You would never know he is a colt he is so laid back
-- no biting. He loves to have his head and ears scratched. He
is very slow on the track and he has only run a few times. He
has a huge stride. His exercise rider says he is a dream
to ride on the track. He carries himself with a lot of presence
and knows he is good looking. He has a light mouth and doesn't
like a heavy handed rider. He has had no time off since he was
a two year-old. Click here to
see more photos. Click here to read Behren's Design's Success Stories.
SOLD! Congratulations to
Heather LaHaye of Ramona, CA

Vilas County aka "Villas" - Congratulations
to Katharina Berner of Roopeville, GA!
Vilas County is
a 4 year old, dark bay, gelding (February 3, 2004). He currently
measures at 16.3 and 3/4!!! He will definitely be well over 17hh
when finished growing. He is a gentle giant with no vices, clean
legs and beautiful movement. He is well mannered and behaved
on the track. He floats across the ground and he moves freely
from his hip and shoulder. "Vilas" will make a fantastic
dressage horse or three day eventor. The only reason he is offered
for sale is he is coming out of a big barn that does not keep
cheaper horses. They wanted this horse to go as a show horse
instead of a bottom claimer since he is such a nice horse and
deserves a great home off the track. Click here for
more photos and information. "Villas" SOLD!
