Suzie Maewon
March 17, 2008
Hello,
I had a minute so I thought I would send you a quick update about
Suzie. I have had Suzie in training since the very end of December
with a really great trainer named Jade Anderson she trained extensively
with Phillip Dutton (Olympic Gold Medalist several times over).
Suzie is coming along very, very nicely. Yesterday she went over
her first little jump! She did great! I am going to keep her
there for another month or two because she is doing so well with
Jade. Suzie moves and acts like a completely different horse.
She looks great and will only get better with more time. At some
point Jade is going to take her to a show to see how she does
with that. My family and I are really excited at how really well
she is doing. I sent a pic of her taking her first jump! Suzie
and I had our 2 year anniversary on February 19th! Seems like
just yesterday! Hope all is well!
Lots of love,
Nicki and Suzie

Hello,
I was forwarding some pictures that Mr. Borg was kind enough to
send me. I had e-mailed Mr. Borg to tell him that I was keeping
Suzie and to thank him again for the wonderful job he did raising
her. It is nice to hear about her past so I know how she became
so special. Mr. Borg wrote me a wonderful letter telling me that
she had been just as special to him as she is to me and my family.
Mr. Borg in his letter also mentioned he might travel down this
way and would like to see her and some of his other 25 horses
that are in the area. That would make me so happy if he could
come down to see his children. Maybe we (25
special horse owners)
could all try to get together in one spot to make it a little
easier on him. Just a thought.
Happy Holidays from my family
to yours!
Love, Nicki and Suzie

Elizabeth's Note: We
try to get as much background as possible on the horses we sell.
We often know the breeders of many of the horses. They are concerned
and care about what happens to their horses when they are done
with their racing careers. Often they are willing to share race
and baby photos with their horses' new owners.

Hello Elizabeth,
I am sending you quick e-mail letting you know that I am going to keep Suzie.
I /we couldn't let her go. My Mom came through for me (again) and told me she
would help me pay for half of Suzie's expenses/training so I could keep her
while my husband and I get on track with our business. I hope I don't come
across as wishy washy needing to sell her then not selling her but I did not
have this option when I contacted you and put her up for sale. Trust me I never
wanted sell her in the first place. It has been a rough couple of months thinking
about parting from her. I am so very ecstatic that she is not going anywhere
anytime soon. Just thought I would share my good news. I will send you some
Suzie is still at home and we are all very happy about it updates!!
Thank you for everything,
Nicki and Suzie
Suzie Maewon is a lovely mover. She is available

Hello Elizabeth,
Just saying hello and giving you a quick update on Miss Suzie.
I have been working her on the weekends and she has been doing
fantastic!
Also, I have a friend/trainer that has been coming
out to work her so I could see her movements and I am so
proud of her! I knew she was a fast leaner! I rode her this weekend
and she of course did great. My friend took some quick pics
of me on her they don't do her justice. I will try to get some
better ones soon. I am still selling her although I have been
in no big hurry to do so. The more I work with her the more I want
to keep her, but I can't. I need to find the perfect home
for her. She has been sunbathing and taking it pretty easy so far
this summer. I am the one dying from the heat! She has it
so easy!
Hope all is well for you guys!
Thank you for all your help,

Hello Elizabeth,
Due to only personal reasons I am selling Suzie, of course only
to the right person. This is only being done after much, much
thought. My Mom and I think it is the best for Suzie.
Suzie
is a very special girl and deserves a perfect new home. She
is a member of our family and is very well loved and spoiled.
I have never had a bit of trouble from her. Suzie is the SWEETEST
and MOST AFFECTIONATE horse I have ever had. That is no exaggeration.
She is a true snuggle bug and always wants kisses. She will
follow you all around the pasture just to be near you. There
is not a mean bone in her body, she is not in least bit aggressive.
She is very laid back once she settles in, it takes her about
a week to learn routines and she does do better with a pasture
mate. She has been out with geldings, mares and foals and
gets along great with everybody. She is usually the middle of the
pack, sometimes at the top depending on who she is with.
I never bred her although I think she would make a great mom.
She was a very good babysitter when one of the mares in her
pasture gave birth last spring.
- She is very easy to catch,
has no food aggressions, she blankets and stalls great.
- She does enjoy being outside cause she loves to sunbathe.
- Suzie
does not bite, kick or crib and is current on shots,
coggins, wormings, floatings and shoes.
- The farrier and vet love
her she cause she stands very still for both.
- She cross ties,
bathes and clips with ease.
- LOVES to be groomed and will stand
still all day long as long as you are paying attention
to her.
- Never had any health issues at all not even a runny nose.
- She loads and trailers just fine but neighs at every other
stop light!
- She saddles and takes the bit with no problems.
As far
as her training as I was working from the ground up.
I was taking it slow with her cause I thought I had time. She
has never offered to buck or act out. Right now we are starting
to work on taking the bit and moving out at the trot. She
does need work but she is so willing to try anything. At first
she is still a bit nervous in the arena but settles down. Suzie
is very patient she doesn't get fussy when you ask for
something.
She is suitable for any kind of riding. She has
great movement. Suzie got something a lot of horses didn't
get, a great start. Mr. Joe Borg did a great job with her you
can tell she was loved and treated well. It is impossible not to
love her, she is a awesome girl. I know she will make someone
a great all around horse.
Whoever gets her has to stay in touch
with me and my Mom. We want to see her be the successful
OTTB that we know she can be. We love her so very much. Please
feel free to call me at any time. I will answer any
and all questions. Just make sure you have time when you call
cause I will talk your ears off about her!!
Nicki Nault
Elizabeth's Note: If you missed out on getting
one of our 25
Special Horses, you are going to want to act fast to get
this beautiful mare. Everyone of Joe's horses is kind sweet and
willing. They are also athletic. UPDATE: Nicki is keeping Suzie
Maewon!

Hello,
Here are some quick pics of Suzie in her Christmas garb. I will send one of Cupid and her next week. They look like twins next to each other except Cupid is 17.2 and Suzie is 15.2, both are bay with four white socks and a blaze. They are too cute!
Happy Holidays!!!

Hello,
Just wanted you to know that Suzie is doing very well. We had a great summer with together, we both took it nice and slow. It's was just too hot not to! We are taking baby steps when it comes to her training, we are not in a hurry. We both try to take it easy on each other.
Thank goodness she has not rolled with her saddle on again, although it was funny when she did it! I now know that Suzie can also double as a babysitter, she helped a new mom with her filly over the spring and summer. I think she thought she knew everything about babies! She was a little busy body! Suzie still has some things to work through but she is coming along. All and all she has been a joy to be around, everyone loves her and thinks the world of her!
I did not take any pictures over the summer but a got a few yesterday. Yet again, she looks great and I look goofy, she is definitely the photogenic one!
Thank you so much,
Nicki and Suzie

Hey Elizabeth,
Just sending you a note to let you know that Suzie is still doing great! Suzie was SO good for the vet and for the farrier, they did not believe me when I told them that she was a OTTB. Suzie is so well behaved and sweet she really is changing peoples minds about OTTBs. Including my own.
Suzie Maewon was one of our former 25 Special Prospect Horses for Sale.
I wasn't sure about the process of purchasing a OTTB from just a picture and a description, but boy I am so glad I made the decision to do it! You and Becky (the trainer on site to help with the placement of the special 25 horses) were so helpful, I told you what I was looking for and you pointed me in the right direction. You made everything so easy and simple. Thank you for helping me. I hope other people read this and make the decision to call you like I did. With your help I made the right choice. Thank you again and again for what you are doing! I sent a few pictures, I think she is looking more like a Georgia girl everyday!!
Lots of love,
Nicki and Suzie

Hey Elizabeth,
Today I rode Suzie for the first time!! She was incredible! Suzie is so well behaved, I have had no troubles with her at all. My mom says we are a match made in heaven, we are both so laid back and kinda lazy! I don't wanna move to fast and neither does Suzie! We are the type of girls who like to stop and smell the flowers.
Seriously though we do have some stuff we need to work on but I have the time and we both have the patience. Suzie by far is the most affectionate horse I have ever known. You should have seen me trying to take pictures of her, she would follow so close to me I couldn't get a good shot of her! She is so snuggly!! That's my favorite thing about her she loves to be with me just as much as I love to be with her. Thank you a million times for doing what you do.
Love,
Nicki and Suzie
P.S. My mom took the pictures, she is worse than me at it! I promise I will get you better ones soon!
P.S.S. I sent the best ones, I was so busy telling my mom what buttons to push I forgot to smile.

Hello,
Suzie is doing wonderful! She is a real sweetheart! I have been having lots of fun with her, she is so easy to mess around with. I haven't ridden her yet, but I will this weekend. I took some photos but well I am not as good a photographer as you are and they turned out too fuzzy. I will get more this weekend and send them to you. Last weekend I put a saddle on her and put her in the round pen, she laid down and rolled with the saddle on! Well at least she had a good laugh! I think she is enjoying the winter here in Georgia. She loves sunbathing. She looks so happy all laid out in the warm sunshine! You can't help but to smile when you see her!
Talk to you soon,
Nicki and Suzie

Our First Update from Nicki on Suzie Maewon - February 20, 2006
I love this girl!!! SO VERY sweet!! Suzie had my heart at hello!! You should see her move, SO beautiful! I'll send pics. I let her out in our side pasture she had so much fun. Suzie's manners are wonderful! She has a friend, my first pony Peanut who is 28 this year. You should see them together it is so sweet, I think Suzie knows she is an old lady, she is really gentle with her. Peanut doesn't get around too well on chilly days.
Suzie, it seems, will settle in just fine.
Thank you for helping me find my angel.
Love,
Nicki
This was Suzie Maewon's Prospect Horse for Sale photos and description.
15'2 filly, 10 years old. She has raced. Clean legged no foals. By Lens out of Violet Maewon. Could be a riding horse, could be a brood mare, good bone structure and pretty correct.
